Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker is committed to ensuring that everyone in the city has access to economic opportunities. In line with this vision, she recently signed the PHL Open for Business Executive Order, which aims to simplify and streamline the process of doing business in Philadelphia. This initiative is geared towards driving inclusive growth and prosperity for all residents of the city.
One of the key components of this initiative is the development and upcoming launch of an interactive website by the Department of Commerce. This website will serve as a 24/7 online business resource finder, providing entrepreneurs with the tools and resources they need to start, operate, and grow their businesses in Philadelphia. The user-friendly platform will be accessible to entrepreneurs both locally and globally, making it easier for them to navigate Philadelphia’s dynamic business ecosystem.
The development of this website is a collaborative effort involving various partners, including the Department of Commerce, PIDC, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, and Equitable Cities Consulting. Ecomap Technologies is tasked with building this essential resource, ensuring that it becomes a vital tool for businesses seeking to thrive in Philadelphia. The project is guided by partners from across the business ecosystem to ensure its relevance, helpfulness, and impact.
The online business resource finder will feature an engaging, interactive, and accessible interface with a range of tools to assist businesses of all sizes and at all stages of development. These features include AI-assisted support for real-time answers to business questions, a resource directory for workshops, services, and funding programs, a searchable database, government navigation assistance, a business ecosystem map, language accessibility in multiple languages, and personalized assistance from the Mayor’s Business Action Team.
To ensure that the platform meets the needs of all entrepreneurs, a diverse steering committee has been assembled, comprising leaders from Philadelphia’s business community. This committee will provide valuable insights and feedback to ensure that the online business resource finder is comprehensive and effective in supporting businesses across the city.
The Department of Commerce is dedicated to keeping businesses informed about the progress of this initiative and welcomes ideas and feedback from the community. For those interested in staying updated on the launch of the online business resource finder or receiving information about resources and opportunities, they can contact the Mayor’s Business Action Team at business@phila.gov or call 215-683-2100. The team is excited to assist entrepreneurs in succeeding in Philadelphia and looks forward to supporting their growth and success in the city.
