Top Companies for Remote Work and How to Secure a Work-From-Home Job

Remote work has become increasingly common, with more than half of remote-capable employees choosing to work a hybrid schedule or fully remote. Work-from-home roles are growing at some of the country’s biggest companies, including several in Illinois.

FlexJobs, a membership site for remote and hybrid careers, recently released its list of top 100 companies to watch for remote jobs in 2025. The 100 featured companies were chosen from an analysis of more than 60,000 companies who posted listings for remote jobs between Jan. 1, 2024, and Dec. 31, 2024.

The data suggests a promising conclusion: remote work is feasible, preferred, and here to stay. Here is a look at the top companies in Illinois, as well as nationally — plus which careers and roles are most available in remote work.

Six companies in “The Prairie State” made the list as ideal remote opportunities: JLL – Jones Lang LaSalle, Chicago Sargent & Lundy, Chicago Blue Cross Blue Shield, Chicago US Foods, Rosemont AbbVie, Chicago HUB International, Chicago

Top 10 companies overall for remote jobs

According to FlexJobs, the 10 companies that posted the most listings for remote work were: Working Solutions Liveops UnitedHealth Group Kelly TELUS Robert Half International Prime Therapeutics Transcom BCD Travel Amplify Education

Working Solutions tops off the list for the second year in a row, and six other employers have made the Top 100 list every year since it started in 2014: CVS Health, Elevance Health, Kelly, SAP, Stride Inc. and UnitedHealth Group. Also earning spots were 33 newcomers establishing themselves as remote-friendly.

The majority of remote job postings, about 70%, were aimed toward experienced technical roles, but managers, entry-level, and senior-level professionals also found options for remote work. According to FlexJobs’ database, employers sought out the following 10 job titles most in 2024: Accountant Software engineer Account executive Customer service representative Project manager Sales development representative Executive assistant Customer success manager Product manager Business development representative
