The recent graduation of budding entrepreneurs from a complimentary eight-week program on the essentials of starting, funding, and expanding a business marks a significant achievement for these individuals on their personal career paths. This event, which took place in San Bernardino County, was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the county’s Department of Economic Development and the Asociacion de Emprendedor@s. This partnership reflects the county’s commitment to fostering an entrepreneurial community by providing resources for business-focused individuals to not only start their businesses but also grow and thrive.
The Emprendedor@s Program, which has been running since 2016, has provided hope and support to over 1,000 Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs by helping them revitalize their dreams of owning a business in the United States. The program offers lessons conducted entirely in Spanish and provides technical assistance to help participants develop their businesses in today’s ever-changing landscape. Led by Monica Robles, an internationally certified coach with the John Maxwell Team and president of the Association of Emprendedor@s, the program consists of eight consecutive weekly modules that educate, motivate, empower, and help develop leadership and business skills within the monolingual Hispanic community.
The most recent session of the Emprendedor@s Program took place in the Town of Apple Valley, where graduates had the opportunity to showcase their businesses, products, and services. The new businesses ranged from educational support services to clothing sales, life insurance consulting, automotive repair, home improvement services, and photography. Each graduate received certificates from the Town of Apple Valley, presented by Mayor Scott Nassif and Mayor Pro Tem Larry Cusack, as well as certificates from San Bernardino County’s Department of Economic Development and the Emprendedor@s Association. Additionally, they were given a free three-month membership to the organization.
Looking ahead, the next session of the Emprendedor@s Program in collaboration with the San Bernardino County Department of Economic Development is set to begin in February 2024.
