Celebrating a Decade of Innovation: The DEC Network’s 10th Annual State of Entrepreneurship

On February 13, 2023, the DEC Network marked a significant milestone at its 10th Annual State of Entrepreneurship (SOE) event held at Vouv in Addison, Texas. This high-energy gathering brought together North Texas’ entrepreneurial community to celebrate a decade of innovation, resilience, and growth in the region.

A Night of Reflection and Celebration

The evening was masterfully MC’d by Jeremiah Anderson, the Director of Innovation at the Frisco Economic Development Corporation. He set the tone for the night by emphasizing the importance of reflecting on the progress made within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. "Each year, we gather to reflect on the incredible progress, innovation, and resilience within our entrepreneurial ecosystem," Anderson stated. "Tonight, as we mark a decade of SOE, we not only celebrate the achievements of the past year but also the unwavering spirit that drives North Texas forward."

The event also served as the official kickoff for DFW Startup Week, scheduled for August 3-7, 2023, further highlighting the region’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship.

A Decade of Achievements

Throughout the evening, the significance of reaching the 10-year milestone was palpable. Anderson remarked, “As we celebrate ten years of SOE, we also celebrate the resilience, creativity, and boldness that define this community. Let’s make it count!” His words resonated with the audience, which included entrepreneurs, corporate partners, investors, and community leaders.

Frisco’s growing reputation as an innovation hub was also spotlighted. With over 400 startups and 13 corporate innovation hubs, the city has seen remarkable success, including more than 35 startup exits and nearly 100 new investments in the past four years.

Honoring Excellence: The Awards Ceremony

Presented by Bank of America, the event featured an awards ceremony that recognized outstanding entrepreneurs and organizations within the community. Bill Chinn, CEO of The DEC, noted the competitive nature of the awards, with over 4,000 individuals casting votes. “These awards are completely community-nominated and community-voted, making each win even more meaningful,” he said.
