Your responsibilities as a Student Worker will include assisting with coordinating office procedures and activities, overseeing communications with prospective students, completing assigned tasks, participating in meetings and trainings, supporting marketing efforts and events, updating files and materials, and providing coverage for the department as needed. You will also have the chance to work on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, helping to create engaging posts and promote the Office of Graduate Admission.
To excel in this role, you should have excellent communication and customer service skills, the ability to work well with others, strong computer skills, knowledge of St. John’s University, and the willingness to participate in new projects. Experience with graphic design and social media platforms like Photoshop and Canva is desired but not required. This position offers opportunities for skill development in areas such as social media, communication, time management, multitasking, and admissions.
In terms of physical demands, you should be able to lift and carry items over 50 pounds and work in an office setting. The position will start in Fall 2024 and end at the conclusion of the academic year (Spring 2025) with the possibility of returning for the following academic year. You must be available for training one week before and after the beginning/end of the semester and work approximately 15 hours per week, excluding university holidays and weekends.
