Flinn Foundation’s Entrepreneurship Program

The Flinn Foundation Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program is a prestigious opportunity for early-stage bioscience companies in Arizona. Each year, the program provides funding, professional support, connections, and networking opportunities to help these companies grow and succeed in the competitive bioscience industry.

This year, the program is piloting a new format as Arizona awaits an update of the Bioscience Roadmap that will extend through 2030. Ten finalist companies will be selected for interviews, with two companies being awarded up to $100,000 each in project costs, professional development, and consulting services administered through the Arizona Bioindustry Association. The remaining eight companies will have the option to work with the Flinn Foundation to leverage the benefits of their network and advisors to advance their companies over a 12-month period.

In addition to financial support, the selected companies will have exclusive opportunities to engage with the state’s bioscience, academic, and policy leaders. They will receive one-year memberships to Arizona’s Bioscience Roadmap Steering Committee and be invited to convenings with fellow bioscience entrepreneurs. This access to key industry players can be invaluable for the growth and success of these early-stage companies.

The application period for the 2025 program has closed, and finalists will be notified in late January. The selected companies will be notified in late February, and the program will officially kick off for the chosen participants.

Key dates for the program include the opening of the application on November 4, 2024, and various informational events and deadlines leading up to the final selection of companies in late February 2025. These dates provide a clear timeline for interested companies to follow and prepare for the program.

Since its inception in 2014, the Flinn Foundation Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program has supported 66 Arizona bioscience companies through a competitive selection process. These companies have received nearly $2 million in funding support through the foundation’s nonprofit partners, demonstrating the program’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in the bioscience sector.
