New Ventures Maine (NVME) is offering an exciting opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners with their Venturing Forth course. This comprehensive business planning class, which will be held online starting on September 3, provides participants with the tools and knowledge needed to create a successful business plan.
The Venturing Forth course is a 60-hour program that covers a wide range of topics essential for business success. From understanding the customer and competition to marketing strategies, recordkeeping, taxes, financing, and legal aspects, participants will gain a deep understanding of what it takes to start and run a successful business. The course is designed to guide individuals through the process of creating a written business plan from start to finish, with feedback from facilitators and fellow entrepreneurs.
One of the key features of the Venturing Forth course is the interactive nature of the learning experience. In-class activities, guest speakers, and homework assignments provide hands-on learning opportunities that help participants apply the concepts they learn to their own business ideas. Additionally, the course includes three follow-up networking sessions, allowing participants to connect with other entrepreneurs and continue learning and growing their businesses.
To participate in the Venturing Forth course, individuals must complete an online application and attend an orientation and individual interview. The application deadline is noon on Tuesday, August 27, and class size is limited to 15 participants. This ensures that each participant receives personalized attention and support throughout the course.
Alicia LaFosse, NVME Microenterprise Specialist, emphasizes the value of the Venturing Forth course in supporting small business owners. “Participants will not only learn through the class content but also from their peers and entrepreneurs in the community as they hone their vision and create their plan,” she says. This collaborative learning environment allows participants to benefit from the diverse perspectives and experiences of their fellow entrepreneurs.
The Venturing Forth course will meet via Zoom on Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 3 to October 15, and on Tuesdays only from October 22 to December 3 (excluding November 26). The course is open to anyone with a business idea or existing business, and it also qualifies for three pass/fail credits from the University of Maine at Augusta upon approval of a completed business plan.
