Free online courses for Veterans seeking assistance with starting or accelerating their business

Are you a Veteran with dreams of becoming an entrepreneur and owning your own business? If so, Warrior Rising may be the perfect organization to help you turn your aspirations into reality. Founded in 2015 by Veterans for Veterans, Warrior Rising is dedicated to empowering Veterans to become successful business owners, create sustainable businesses, hire fellow Veterans, and secure their financial future.

Warrior Rising’s upcoming Service-Disabled Veteran Entrepreneurs (SDVET) online course, sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration, is set to begin on June 13, 2024. This free program consists of four weeks of web-based instruction, followed by participation in other programs offered by Warrior Rising, such as Warrior Academy, Warrior University, virtual-live Coaching, and Master Class sessions.

This program is specifically designed to assist service-disabled Veterans, but Warrior Rising also offers training programs for Veterans who do not have a service-disability requirement. These additional programs can be explored on their website at www.warriorrising.org/our-process.

It is crucial to ensure the accuracy of all information, especially email and phone number, before applying for the program. If the provided information is incorrect, Warrior Rising will not be able to send you the necessary links for the program. Applicants do not need a Google account to register, and if they meet the service disability requirement, they will automatically be admitted to the program.

The course curriculum covers a range of topics essential for starting and running a successful business. Sessions include an introduction to business ownership, understanding markets and competition, legal entity structuring, financing options, business plan creation, and available resources for Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs).

The SDVET Program is sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration and is free for all verified service-disabled Veterans. The course is conducted virtually via Zoom on specific Thursdays, with the Zoom link being provided via email 1-2 days before each session. If a session is missed, participants can still join the remaining sessions, and the course is offered four times a year for those unable to attend the current session.

To qualify for the program, Veterans must provide a DD-214 (with SSN removed) and a valid letter of disability from the VA, along with documentation showing disability rating. Current or widowed spouses of qualifying Veterans may also participate by providing the required documentation. Applicants must be in the concept or early stage of business development and pursuing a career as an entrepreneur or business owner.

Interested Veterans can apply for the program by June 10, 2024, through the Warrior Rising SDVET Program Registration link. The next presentation of the course will be in late August or early September 2024. Warrior Rising, a 501c3 non-profit organization, offers free entrepreneurship training to current and former military service members. For more information, visit their website or contact them at SDVET@WarriorRising.org.

In conclusion, Warrior Rising provides valuable support and resources for Veterans looking to start or grow their own businesses. By participating in their programs, Veterans can gain the knowledge and skills needed to succeed as entrepreneurs and contribute to the growth of the Veteran business community.
