Lisa Getzler appointed as Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship

Lisa Getzler, a prominent figure at Lehigh University, has recently been appointed as the vice provost for entrepreneurship, a role that will see her leading the university’s entrepreneurship strategy and practice as outlined in Lehigh’s strategic plan, “Inspiring the Future Makers.” This new position is a testament to Getzler’s dedication and success in promoting entrepreneurship education and practice at Lehigh, and it reflects the university’s commitment to supporting and fostering entrepreneurial endeavors among its students, faculty, and alumni.

Getzler’s journey at Lehigh began in 2001 when she joined as the associate director of the integrated product development (IPD) program. Over the years, she has held various leadership positions within the university, culminating in her appointment as the executive director of the Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity, and Innovation in 2013. In her role at the Baker Institute, Getzler has been instrumental in shaping the institute’s strategy, designing mission-driven programs, forging partnerships, and securing resources to support entrepreneurship initiatives at Lehigh.

One of Getzler’s notable achievements is her advocacy for innovative approaches to developing students’ intellectual property. She is recognized nationally for her work in creating assessment tools to measure student performance in team-based, immersive learning environments. In 2017, she played a key role in establishing Lehigh@NasdaqCenter, a partnership between Lehigh University and the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center in San Francisco. This collaboration resulted in Lehigh establishing a permanent academic presence on the West Coast, further expanding its reach and impact in the field of entrepreneurship.
