New National Ranking Shows UConn Online MBA Program’s Impressive Debut

The UConn Online MBA program has made a significant impact in the academic world, debuting at No. 33 among the best online programs in the nation. This achievement is a testament to the program’s commitment to providing a high-quality education to its students. Poets & Quants, a respected news and ranking organization focused on graduate business education, recently announced the results, with the UConn program also ranking No. 27 for career outcomes and No. 26 for academic experience.

Mia Hawlk, the executive director of MBA programs at UConn, expressed her pride in the program’s accomplishments, stating that the accolades reflect the careful work that went into creating the online program. She emphasized that quality student experience and academic rigor were the guiding principles in developing the OMBA program. This focus has attracted a talented pool of applicants, leading to the program’s success in maintaining high standards while being accessible to a broad audience.

The 42-credit OMBA program currently has 226 students, with over 100 students matriculating this year, marking a 14 percent increase over the previous fall. Additionally, the School has 501 students participating in the Flex MBA program, taking a mix of courses online and in person. These numbers demonstrate the program’s popularity and appeal to a diverse group of students seeking to advance their careers through quality education.

Poets & Quants based its rankings on various factors, including salary increase and promotion during and shortly after graduation, career advising and support, alumni achieving their primary career goals, and opportunities for networking and professional satisfaction. The data was collected directly from alumni, ensuring an accurate representation of the program’s impact on students’ careers.

Professor Redona Methasani, the academic co-director of MBA programs, highlighted the program’s emphasis on practical, applied learning, which empowers students to leverage their degrees for promotions and salary growth. The personalized support from the Office of Graduate Career & Professional Development and access to industry-specific career coaches further contribute to the program’s success in helping students achieve real-world results.

The UConn OMBA program, which launched in Fall of 2021, offers students the flexibility to complete their degree quickly or at a more leisurely pace. This flexibility, combined with the program’s focus on career impact and academic excellence, has contributed to its rapid rise in the rankings and its growing reputation nationally. As the program continues to attract a diverse group of students and maintain high standards, it is poised to make even greater strides in the field of online MBA education.
