UConn’s Graduate Business Programs Ranked Among the Best Online by U.S. News & World Report

The UConn School of Business has recently received recognition for three of its online programs, which have been ranked among the 2025 Best Online (Non-MBA) Programs by U.S. News & World Report. The Financial Technology (FinTech), Human Resources Management (MSHRM), and Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) programs have all been ranked as No. 12 in the nation. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as the FinTech and MSHRM programs are newcomers to the rankings, having recently become eligible for assessment, while the MSA program is a well-established program.

According to Professor Jose M. Cruz, the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs at the School of Business, this recognition highlights the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, student success, and strategic investment in online education. By utilizing state-of-the-art technology, innovative course design, and the expertise of world-class faculty, the School of Business has created an engaging, flexible, and high-impact learning environment. This achievement reaffirms the institution’s dedication to empowering professionals to thrive in an ever-evolving global landscape.

The U.S. News ranking evaluated more than 1,600 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, focusing on metrics specific to online learning, including student engagement and program quality. The survey included only non-MBA programs, making the recognition even more significant for the UConn School of Business.

The 36-credit master’s degree in FinTech offers a comprehensive mix of analytics, technology, and business courses to prepare students to lead in various fields such as finance, banking, insurance, medicine, regulations, and real estate. Professor John Wilson, the program’s academic director, emphasized the program’s global reach, experiential opportunities, and reputation. The program’s online offering provides students with flexibility in their learning modality, setting it apart from other FinTech programs.

The MSHRM program, a 33-credit master’s degree program, equips students with the knowledge and skills to lead an HR department through strategic planning and employee relationship management. In the program’s most recent exit survey, 71% of graduating respondents reported receiving a promotion or new position while in the program. Professor Travis Grosser, who leads the department, highlighted the cohort-based format of the program, which fosters strong relationships among students and promotes peer learning and support.

The MSA program, a 30-credit program, provides the additional accounting credit hours necessary to fulfill the educational requirements for earning a CPA license. Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and led by full-time faculty and industry experts, the program focuses on issues relevant to today’s accounting professionals. Professor Joshua Racca, the director of the MSA program, emphasized the program’s long tradition of high achievement due to the quality of faculty, staff, and students who strive for excellence.

In conclusion, the UConn School of Business’s recognition in the U.S. News & World Report rankings is a testament to the institution’s dedication to providing high-quality online education in the fields of Financial Technology, Human Resources Management, and Accounting. The programs’ focus on academic excellence, student success, and innovative learning environments have positioned them among the best in the nation, showcasing the School of Business’s commitment to empowering professionals for success in today’s dynamic business landscape.
